Panufnik Roxanna

Panufnik Roxanna (* 1968 London-) British composer of Polish origin, continuing the musical traditions of her father Andrzej Panufnik. Her works have been performed in most concert halls in England, as well as at major music events around the world.

The composer’s particular goal is to build musical bridges between religions. The first of her projects in this direction was the violin concerto Abraham, commissioned by the Savannah Music Festival for Daniel Hope. The artist combined elements of Christian, Muslim and Jewish songs, by analogy emphasizing the fact that the followers of these three religions believe in the same God. The composition was presented in Jerusalem and London by the World Orchestra for Peace conducted by Valery Giergijew in 2008, and also in 2014 at the BBC Proms. BBC Radio 3 organized the world premiere of her piece Four World Seasons for solo violin and string orchestra (2011), which sounded at the inauguration of the Music Nations weekend for the London Olympics. The piece consists of four movements: Autumn in Albania, Tibetan Winter, Spring in Japan and Indian Summer. It was dedicated to the violinist Tasmin Little, with the exception of the first movement, which the composer dedicated to the memory of her father, Andrzej Panufnik.
